Assistance Needed

The Empire State Leathernecks is seeking your help. As a newly formed Detachment, starting from the ground up has its challenges and costs associated with it. We are seeking your help with these cost.

As required by the Marine Corps League National bylaws, each Detachment much be incorporated and become a IRS recognized 501(c)(4) entity. The Empire State Leathernecks Detachment #1493 of the Marine Corps League is a subordinate entity of the Marine Corps League. The entity is entitled to status that can raise money from donors whose donation would be tax deductible according to IRS Publication 4838.

As of this writing we are a registered not-for-profit corporation in New York State. We are in the process of obtaining our IRS 501(c)(4) exemption status.

If anyone has researched the cost associated with obtaining these status, you can understated we are asking for your assistance.

For a little bit of background, this Detachment would provide an opportunity for Marines in the area to join an operational Detachment near them.  With this Detachment taking root, it makes the Northeast Division the only Division in the entire Marine Corps League where each of the Departments therein has their own “Member At Large” Detachment.
